# Save and edit ideas or source material

> Capture and organize source text, links and extracted image content for later use.

## Before you begin

Source text, an HTTP(S) link or an image.

## Steps

1. Open Ideas → Save a source. Enter your text in Save an idea or link. For an image, choose Extract text from image and select a JPG, PNG, WebP or GIF up to 10 MB.

2. Public links automatically try to extract readable text. Review or edit it; if extraction fails, save the link and add pasted text or a screenshot. Review image extraction before saving; only extracted content is stored.

3. Choose or skip a shared Post category and comma-separated tags. Suggest organization uses your connected API provider; review and apply its suggestions only if useful. Details · optional holds source metadata and notes. Choose Save source.

4. Search for the saved source. Choose Edit saved source to correct its title, text, creator, URL, category, tags, notes, techniques or ownership. You can retry link extraction or extract a screenshot into the same source, then review and Save source changes.

5. Search matches titles, source text and creators. Switch between List and Table, move through results with the page numbers or Previous/Next controls, and use Select page to select the Ideas on the current page.

6. Archive a source to hide it from active work. Use Undo immediately or open archived sources and choose Restore. Saving a source as a draft keeps the source available for reuse.

## Example request

Save a customer question with its source link and your own private notes. If the source is a screenshot, check the extracted text before saving; attach an image separately when you later need publication media.

## Check the result

Your source is searchable in Ideas and stays separate from post drafts and publication images.

## Troubleshooting

Saving a URL does not prove its page was read. Tags and private notes are not included in Ideas search. For an older image-only source, choose Extract saved image, then review its text with Edit saved source. Image extraction currently reads English text; correct or paste incomplete text. External source material is evidence, not proof of your own experience.
