ASSISTANT & ROUTINES6 min read

Put your assistant to work with OwnPost.

Practical requests for posts, blogs, writing profiles, ideas, planning and results in any compatible assistant with OwnPost skills and a connected workspace.

Connect the workspace and select a skill

  1. Open /settings/plugins in OwnPost and download the package for your client, or install the ownpost entry skill directly in a compatible local client. ChatGPT uses a package linked to its registered MCP app. The entry skill includes every workflow; specialist skills are optional shortcuts.

  2. Authorize your workspace through browser sign-in in your assistant, or use the manual connection-key setup when needed. Use full workspace access for everyday post writing and settings changes. Installation alone does not establish this connection.

  3. Start a new conversation and select the installed skill from your assistant’s skill picker or supported invocation menu. If the plugin adds a namespace, choose the entry shown by that client.

  4. Paste one of the requests below and replace the bracketed source material. These are natural-language requests, so they do not depend on a particular client’s slash or dollar prefix.

The examples assume a client that supports installed agent skills. An MCP-only client can receive a natural-language task, but naming a skill does not install it or make it available. A local installation does not sync into ChatGPT. On ChatGPT mobile, use the same account and workspace and a hosted plugin that supports mobile.

Start from a prompt in OwnPost

Open Prompts → All prompts to browse reusable requests, filter or search by task, and mark favorites. Use View full prompt to read a request or Copy prompt to include the active account context.

Replace any bracketed placeholders after copying, then paste and send the request to your connected assistant. Copying starts no work. A prompt that asks to add an AI action saves its brief for a later requested run.

Start with a real workspace read

Use the ownpost skill when you want the assistant to choose the workflow. Before asking it to change anything, verify that it can read your workspace and identify the right account.

Example request · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost skill to list my workspace accounts and read my saved writing preferences. Tell me which account you will use for this conversation.

Name the destination account in later requests if you use more than one. Changing the account in the OwnPost browser does not change the assistant’s destination.

Turn notes into a draft in your voice

Use ownpost-posts for a focused writing task, or select ownpost and ask for the same result. Include the facts you want used and say whether you want a saved draft or only feedback in the conversation.

Writing skills apply an editorial review for factual support, specificity and your approved voice before returning generated text. They preserve quotations, required words and the requested editing range; exact-text saves keep your wording.

Example request · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost-posts skill to turn these notes into one concise X post in my saved writing style. Keep the supplied facts and save a draft for review. Show me the saved text and draft ID.

Notes: [paste your notes]

A saved draft should reopen in Content. Writing a draft does not publish it to X or schedule a time.

Prepare a thread and attach the right image

The ownpost entry skill can coordinate writing and media in one request. Attach the actual image to the conversation, identify the thread part and inspect the saved result.

Example request · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost skill to turn these notes into a three-part thread in my saved voice. Attach the image I supplied to the second part and add an accurate image description. Save the thread for review and show the saved order and attachment result.

Notes: [paste your notes]

Explore ideas before saving more drafts

Use ownpost-ideas to work from saved source material. An options request keeps the suggestions in the conversation until you choose which drafts to save.

Example conversation · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost-ideas skill to read these selected Ideas and suggest three distinct post angles in my saved style. Keep the options in this conversation and identify the source Idea for each.

Idea IDs: [paste the selected IDs]

Follow-up after reviewing: Save option two as a draft and keep the source Idea.

Write a blog and pick it up in another chat

Use ownpost-blogs to keep the brief, sources, outline, sections and next step with the article. A saved checkpoint lets another assistant continue from the current document when you ask to resume.

Example conversation · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost-blogs skill to start a blog for [audience] from Ideas [Idea IDs]. Save the brief and outline, write the introduction from the supplied facts, then pause with a checkpoint.

Later: Continue article [article ID] from its saved checkpoint. Read the latest revision, finish the next section and save progress.

Pausing saves a stopping point. Opening the article or reading its checkpoint does not automatically resume work.

Prepare an edition for Medium or X Articles

Use ownpost-blog-publishing to adapt a saved article for its destination. Editions retain their source revision and platform edits. Check formatting and media in the destination editor before publishing there.

Example request · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost-blog-publishing skill to create a Medium edition of article [article ID] and export Markdown for manual handoff. Preserve its sources and master article, and list the remaining media steps.

Exports prepare content for transfer. After publishing, supply the real URL and time to record the edition’s publication in OwnPost.

Save a writing preference or try new hooks

Use ownpost-writing-profile to edit a specific preference, save an example or hook pattern, or review style. Explicit edits update the shared profile; preview requests and editorial feedback leave it unchanged.

Example requests · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost-writing-profile skill to add ‘game-changing’ to my avoided phrases and preserve my other rules.

Then suggest three supported hooks for post [post ID]. Keep the suggestions in this conversation so I can choose one.

Inferred preferences can become pending Learning Notes when you ask to save them. Review and accept those notes in Insights → Learning review.

Plan a time for a reviewed draft

Use ownpost-schedule to plan an existing draft with your timezone and Posting Slots. Supply its ID or continue with the draft selected in the conversation.

Example request · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost-schedule skill to plan draft [draft ID] for my next available Posting Slot as a manual reminder. Show me the saved local time and timezone.

A manual reminder does not send the post to X. API publication requires the separate owner approval and publishing permission. Changing Posting Slots alone does not schedule existing drafts.

Learn from the results you have recorded

Use ownpost-analytics to compare measured posts or critique a draft. Ask it to distinguish missing data from zero and to connect suggestions to the available evidence.

Example request · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost-analytics skill to review my measured posts from the last 30 days. Describe the sample and missing data, then suggest one writing experiment for next week. Keep this as advice in the conversation; do not change my writing rules.

Save work now and run it when needed

Use ownpost-actions, or the ownpost entry skill, to keep a queue for writing, research, reviews and planning. A request to add an action only saves it. Run Next action for one item or choose a fixed batch to work through one at a time.

Contextual shortcuts retain selected Ideas, Posts or blogs and the relevant dates and filters. Blog research and review can save progress in the action report; applying article edits uses a separate blog-writing request.

Example requests · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost-actions skill to add an action for my Main account: review last month's measured posts and propose one experiment. Save a report for later.

When ready: Use the ownpost-actions skill to run my next queued OwnPost action and show the saved result.

This needs Full workspace tools access. Saving does not start the agent or call your configured API provider. A question or failure stops the batch; answer or retry deliberately. Review reports and draft links in Assistant → AI actions.

Keep a regular review on your calendar

Use ownpost-routines for recurring tasks and reminders. OwnPost’s scheduler tracks routine items; automatic AI preparation additionally needs a configured, available external assistant.

Example request · any compatible assistant
Use the ownpost-routines skill to create a routine every Friday at 6 PM in my saved timezone: review measured posts and choose one writing experiment. Save the routine and show me its schedule.

Creating the routine does not start an AI model. Ask for Telegram delivery only after connecting Telegram and choosing the notifications you want.

Check what actually happened

  1. For a draft, reopen the saved post and confirm the text, account, media and thread order.

  2. For a blog, check the saved article, sources, current stage and checkpoint. For an edition, confirm its destination, source revision and actual export or publication-record status.

  3. For a plan or routine, check the saved time, timezone and delivery mode in your workspace.

  4. For analysis, look for the supporting measurements and any gaps. Review proposed writing lessons before applying them.

  5. If a request only partly succeeds, keep the confirmed results and resolve the failed step. Ask the assistant to check saved state before retrying an uncertain create.

If the skill is missing, check the client’s installed skills and restart it if needed. If tools are missing, fix the MCP connection. If access is denied, inspect the connection scope; repeating the prompt does not add permissions.
