Export data or make a content backup

Choose a readable export or a restorable package with media.

Before you begin

A current owner session and enough download space. Version 1 supports up to 50 MB and 10,000 database records across the included tables.

Steps

  1. Open Settings → Account & data → Backups. Under Export your data, choose Export workspace as JSON for metadata or Export posts as CSV for spreadsheet analysis. These exports omit media files and cannot be restored.

  2. Under Backup & restore, choose Download content backup for a restorable version 1 package with media.

  3. Wait for the download to finish.

  4. Keep the file privately outside this app. Blogs, editions, checkpoints, retained revisions, linked Ideas and stored media are included, along with writing-profile libraries, feedback/history and saved AI-action instructions, questions, reports and draft references. Login credentials, provider API keys, temporary API requests, assistant keys, X connections, pending notifications and active claims are excluded. Browser-only settings, saved views and unfinished local edits are also excluded.

  5. Use the version 1 content backup for restore. CSV and the older JSON metadata export are not accepted for restore.

A practical example

Download a content backup before updating your deployment. Also preserve database, media and private configuration backups appropriate to your host; the downloadable package excludes credentials and has size limits.

Check the result

You have a downloaded file with an explicit format, scope and creation time.

Troubleshooting

A missing saved media file causes an error. Packages above 50 MB or 10,000 records need an administrator-managed database/media backup instead. A supported video can exceed the total backup limit by itself; encoding also makes files larger in the backup. The record limit includes related rows, such as thread parts, result snapshots and article revisions. Portable article ZIP exports provide separate copies of individual blogs and their stored media.
