Write blogs and prepare platform editions
Develop a long-form draft, pause with a next step, review AI proposals, and prepare editions for X Articles, Medium or your website.

Start from your writing or saved sources
Linked Ideas retain source snapshots and a record of their use. Editing an Idea later does not rewrite the blog. Archive and Trash preserve articles for restoration.
Manual writing, pause and resume, editions and exports work without publishing credentials or an AI provider.
Open Content → New blog. Start with a blank page, saved Ideas, an existing Post or Thread, pasted writing, Markdown, HTML, or one of your templates.
Give the blog a working title. Record the reader, angle, target length and milestones in the brief; keep research notes in Sources.
Use library search, stage filters, Favorites, categories and series to organize work. Save a reusable article as a template when its structure is useful for future writing.
Write on a continuous page
The Write tab keeps the title, subtitle, story and media together. Select text for the formatting toolbar, or use keyboard shortcuts and Markdown-style typing. Outline opens document navigation; Preview shows the complete article.
Use the + beside an empty paragraph to insert an image, video, URL preview, heading, quote, list, code block, table or divider. Paste a video or website URL into an empty paragraph to create a preview, or press Enter after a typed standalone URL.
Upload images or supply image URLs, then add alt text, captions and credits. Click an image to choose normal, wide or full-width layout. Uploaded images display in the workspace; external images and direct video URLs remain links until opened. YouTube and Vimeo use embedded players; other URLs use link cards.
A block's … menu includes type, reorder and remove controls and Edit Markdown. Cmd/Ctrl+A selects the whole story, including its title and media. Cmd/Ctrl+Z undoes document edits during the current editing session; use History for saved revisions after returning later.
Leave a useful checkpoint
A paused article rejects assistant changes until it is explicitly resumed. Pausing also requests cancellation of pending in-app AI work.
Choose Pause writing. Record what is finished, the next concrete step, decisions to preserve and any open questions.
Choose Save and pause. The checkpoint also keeps your active section so you or your assistant can return to the same place.
Find the article in Content (filter the type to Blogs), read its checkpoint and choose Resume writing when ready to continue.
Check saving and retain milestones
Wait for All changes saved before moving to another device. If a save fails, available browser storage keeps a recovery copy for each open editor. Reopening offers unfinished writing for deliberate recovery. If another tab or assistant changed the article, compare the newer version and save your recovered writing as a separate copy or reload deliberately.
History keeps the latest 20 ordinary autosave snapshots, named checkpoints and explicit workflow snapshots such as creation, pause, resume and restore. Revisions referenced by recorded publications or promotion drafts are retained too. Create a named checkpoint for a milestone you want to keep.
Restoring a retained revision creates a new current revision and preserves later history. Workspace content backups include articles, editions, checkpoints, retained revisions, linked Ideas and stored media; restored blogs are paused for review.
Browser recovery depends on available local storage. Keep the editor open if recovery storage is unavailable and saving has not completed. Use workspace backups for a separate copy of your content.
Review assistance before applying it
With an AI provider configured, expand Writing assistant. Request an outline, writing or improvement for the current section, a review of structure and claims, title ideas, an edition adaptation, or a promotional post or thread.
Generate proposal returns work for review. Apply the result you want; choose individual title suggestions when offered. If the article changed after generation, copy useful passages or generate a fresh proposal. The panel discloses when context was shortened for the request.
A connected external assistant can work with the article's brief, content, sources and checkpoint using ownpost-blogs and ownpost-blog-publishing. AI actions can also include selected blogs for later work. Saving an action queues the request; a connected assistant must run it.
Prepare each destination independently
An edition's planned time appears in Content → Due today and on the calendar as a reminder to publish manually. OwnPost does not automatically publish article editions to any platform.
Open Editions and create an X Article, Medium, Substack, LinkedIn or website edition from the master article. A Substack edition also holds Substack Notes to copy, post and tick off.
Edit its content on the same writing canvas. Set its own title, cover, description, tags, destination and other platform metadata.
When the master article changes, review the changes alongside your edition. Existing platform edits stay intact. Update the edition as needed, then choose Mark as reviewed.
Export, publish and record the result
Choose Copy formatted for a destination editor, or download Markdown, HTML or plain text. Article backup exports JSON data. Use Export with images for a portable ZIP containing the selected master or edition's formats and stored media with relative paths.
Open the destination editor, paste or import the writing, check formatting and upload its media. Complete publication there.
Return to Publication and results for the edition. Enter the real Published URL and Published at date, then choose Record publication. The record retains the saved revision used for that edition.
Add measured views, reads, likes, comments or shares with source or reader-feedback notes. Each edition keeps its own result snapshots, timestamped when you save them.
Single-file HTML and Markdown exports can reference private workspace media URLs. Use Export with images when transferring stored images elsewhere. External embeds remain links in exports. If formatted clipboard support is unavailable, Copy formatted falls back to plain text; download HTML to preserve formatting.
Turn the article into promotional posts
Choose Promotional post / thread in Writing assistant, review the proposal and choose Save promotional draft. The result is an ordinary account-specific Post or Thread linked to the article revision. Reopen it in Content to review its wording, destination account and media, then use your usual planning and publishing workflow.
Saving a promotion draft does not publish it or approve an API publication job.
